To apply for NDIS continence funding, incontinence must be linked to your disability. Your GP can help with making this diagnosis. Funding for a continence assessment would need to be included in your planning meeting and you may need to talk to your LAC or support coordinator about this. The NDIS will fund your continence assessment which will include assessment, provisional diagnosis, recommendations, prescription and quote for products.
Families who require toilet training support may not be eligible for funding from a government or professional body. There also may be other individuals who would like support who cannot access funding. Tailored packages are available to assist you to meet your, or your child's needs. Please get in touch with Melinda Webb Support Services today to discover an option that fits your needs.
CAPS is an Australian Government initiative which helps eligible people with some of the costs of their continence products. To apply you need to be diagnosed with a permanent and severe continence issue, have a neurological or other eligible condition that is the cause of your incontinence, be 5 years old or older and be an Australian citizen. A team member at Melinda Webb Support Services can help you apply for the funding once you have a diagnosis from your GP. Further information about CAPS funding can be found by tapping the Learn More button below.
SWEP offers state based funding to cover the cost of continence related items for people who have an eligible condition. Melinda Webb Support Services are SWEP credentialed practitioners and can assist with the application process and prescription of products. The prescription needs to be updated annually. More information about SWEP eligibility and funded items can be found by hitting the Learn More button below.
For NDIS participants, continence assessments and reviews fall under the ‘Improved Daily Living’ category within the Capacity Building section of NDIS plans. Meanwhile, funding for continence products is allocated within the ‘CORE’ supports budget of individual NDIS plans.
